I-94 dilemma

My passport is geting expired in March 2008 and my I-94 also is valid only till March-2008 but my visa and petition is valid till 2010.

I have applied for my passport renewal.

How about I-94 extension?
Do i need to apply for I-94 extension thru my employer ?

Could someone help me out in this?

How can i extend my I-94 with my new passport?

---- If you have a petition valid till 2010, there should be an accompanying I-94 to ensure that the Visa status is valid. However, if it is not there you can apply for an extension by accessing the cbp website and going through the form I-824 (if I am correct).

---- If this does not work you may have to go out of the country by seeking a Visa interview at a US Consulate, get the Visa stamped on your Passport and reenter the US with that I-94.

---- If you already have a Visa, it may be possible to go out of the country and get back to US by seeking a I-94 at the POE

---- I-94 is issued only up to the date that your PP or Petition is valid (whichever comes first)

---- ONCE YOU RECEIVE YOUR PASSPORT (HOPEFULLY BEFORE MID-JAN, 2008), CONTACT YOUR EMPLOYER TO GET THE I-94 RENEWED FROM USCIS.
