to bring your spouse and kid on H4 once you land in USA with H1 status ?

I know it is a very very vague question. But I just need an approximate answer.
I need to plan accordingly. The reason I am asking this question is what all documents are needed for my spouse and kid's H4 visa appointment which I need to provide when I am there in USA on H1.
