Autos can cost you easily 120-140 for 10-12km.

I am not sure about the distance. I suggest you take a call Taxi from out side the airport instead of auto. Auto driver will loot you

I am from chennai and that is the rate for autos. But as usual..they can find out your from out of town..they will really take you for a ride.Call taxi is a good option. The buses suck big time, they are slow and unreliable.

take a train from station opposite to the airport (walking distance from airport), get down at Emore station and take an auto which will cost you may be 30-40 rs.
train is most comfortable thing that can be taken from the airport if you have managble luggage.

Best is take a call-taxi.If you are landing real late, avoid the trains,st thomas mount (station closest to airport)..not safe place. Why look at the cost, just take a call taxi even if it costs 200-400.
