  • Extra Job on H-1

I understand that you cannot work at another job besides the one sponsoring the H-1.

However, if one chooses to take the risk and work for another company, accepting W-2's or 1099 and paying all due taxes, what are the consequences?

What is the probability that you will actually be identified by the authorities?

Also, what are the long term risks associated with such a move - as in when applying for the green card, etc.

Also are the IRS and Immigration databases linked up - if someone submits a SSN and pays taxes to IRS,will immigration automatically know that the SSN
    is not authorized?

---- In brief you are telling the forum members that if you are doing all this, then how much illegality is built into the case

---- As a H1 holder be careful of what you want to do. Your tactics may not be observed by anyone for a few days. But once it comes to the notice of the authorities and they include many govt. agencies then you know the consequences. What exactly they are is anybody's guess and the least of them may be deportation and a ban for a number of years to enter the US on any type of Visa

      Relax, friend

      Hi friend,

I do corroboate with the reply of Mr. Subramanya.

It is a temptation to make quick and more money, for several reasons, which no one can judge you wrong.

But relax from your work and you need the time for yourself.

I have known one of my enthusiastic software friend, who ended up with lots of problems when he wanted GC processing because of multiple W2 etc.

All the contentment with the present job, for you.
