travelling during new H1

I am currenly in US on H4 visa and planning to apply for H1 visa in the April 2008 quota. Also I have a plan to travel to India in March and coming back by May. Whether travelling outside US during the period of submission of H1 will anyway affect my H1B application? When coming back I believe I will be given new I94. Please reply regarding this.

caution!

Hi,

I was in a similar situation last year, changing from J1 to H1B.

Most of the seniors advised me not to travel till I got the approval, once applied in April, unless you decide you file your papers after your return in May, which I don't think you would be comfortable with.
