Duration of H1B - max 6years. Count start date?

Dear Immigration Help,

This is a very good website to help me with immigration questions. Here is another query.

I have H1 valid from Oct 3, 2005 till Sept 30, 2008. However, I arrived In US late on April 02, 2006. The limit of max 6years starts from which date.

Stay for 6 years will start from Will it be From Oct, 2005 or April, 2006.
