H1 Cap Question

Hello,

I graduated in December of 2006 and I was on optional practical training(OPT) from January 15th, 2007 onwards. I started work with company X on January 15th itself. They have filed for my H1B and it starts October 1st, 2007. I am not happy with this company and I am looking to shift companies. I am interviewing with a new company, say company Y. Can I start working with company Y on October 1st, 2007 or do I have to wait for a bit, like start working with company Y by October 10th or something. Kindly let me know and I will appreciate that.

You will have to wait actually until Oct 1, 2008 if you do so.

Best thing is to do is to work for company X for some time and then apply for H1 transfer.
