B1 to H4 visa in USA Please

Hi

I am currently in the USA on a B1 visa.My wife is working in the USA.She is currently on a H1 visa.I want to change my status to H4.As i currently in the USA ,can i go to Mexico or Canada and get my status changed to H4.

Kindly advice on this.
