H1 transfer outside US

My husband has a valid stamped H1 for company A. However he did not use it to travel to US.Currently, he is working for Company A in Australia.

Company B wants to transfer his H1.

Does he need to go back to India to get his passport stamped again or can he directly travel from Australia to US on aprroval of new petition.

Does he need to go back to India to get his passport stamped again or can he directly travel from Australia to US on aprroval of new petition

---- He can come to the US on the existing valid Visa provided it is valid after the H1 trasnfer is complete (rom A to B). However, he has to wait for the approval as it is from outside the US and it can take time (at least 6 months)
