notice of action for H4 visa holders

Hello,

Is there a I-797, notice of action, for someone who is on H4 visa? My wife is on H4 visa. The university she has got admitted into is asking for I797 from her, apart from mine.
As far as I know, I-797 exists only for H1 visa holders? But, I may be wrong. Does anyone know anything about this.

only if she changed or extended her status while in USA.
your I-797 is the basis for her visa.
