Reg H1 extension

Hi,

I am working with a software company in India.I got my H1 visa stamped on 29 Sep 2004.It was valid till 15 Dec 2006.I stayed in US on H1 for 20 months (which is less than 2 yrs).I got my H1 visa extended.Now i have a H1- extension valid till May 11 2009.If I want to extend my stay in US after May 11 2009(visa expiry date),can I apply for 1 more extension (till I complete my 6-yr allowed limit for H1 in the US)? If not,what are the options for extending stay in US after May 11 2009? Please advice.

Yes you can apply for the 1 year extension as time spent outside can be recaptured.

More extensions may also be possible if you file PERM (1st stp in GC) at least 365 days before your 6 year time ends.
