H1 B doubt

My OPT is valid till this Sept 20th. This April my company is filing my H1. If I get H1 will my OPT still valid.(I have opted premium processing, filled in MS quota)
My problem is that, I am going to India in this May , is it necessary for me to get stamping? My OPT will be valid even after getting H1 approved?
Can I reenter in USA on my OPT in May keeping in the mind that H1 starts from Oct 1st?

You can travel on OPT and enter on OPT before your OPT ends if you have a valid visa, I-20, and a Job (Current verification or Job offer letter).

If you leave the U.S. while your Change of Status (COS from F1 to H1) is pending, your COS will be deemed abandoned by USCIS and your H1 COS will not take effect on Oct 1st.

If you want your status to change on Oct 1st from F1 to H1 with no problem, I would advice you to travel after you get your H1 approved and while you leave the U.S. hold on to the I-797 I-94 that you get with your H1 approval.
