F1 to H1 (w/o OPT)

my h1 got selected for 09 quota.right now i am on f1 status.I AM NOT ON OPT.so when should i change my status frm f1 to h1? can i leave the country before oct 1 and re enter on f1?

If the H1b was applied of a COS and you intend to maintain F1 status, you need to follow the leap frog principle. Leave before Oct 1st, enter after Oct 1st on F1 status.
