  • H1B Stamping Question...need help

    Hi
My visa stamp expires in August(got stamped in ottawa in 2006). how early i can go again to canada before my stamp expires? I'm planning to go to india in august, i don't know how safe it is to get stamped in chennai. I did my master in US and got stamped in 2006 and took fulltime with american client in 2007, having H1b till 2010.
can someone please advice about my issue. i heard there is PIMS verification as part of stamping? can i attend stamping before 60 days of expiry?

    Thanks in Advance

    Regards
    MK

Sure you can attend for a visa 60 days before expiry. PMIS check takes hardly 2-4 days and if your extension came in recently, it is autopopulated into PMIS. Only older petitions are not in PMIS and result in delays of less than a week.

      Hi txh1b

Thanks for the reply. I got my new H1B in 2007 July(when i transfered to new employer). How can i check if my H1B is in PIMS database for ottawa consulate.

      Thanks

The database is the same for all consulates. Once you book an appointment, you can email your appointment confirmation and I797 scanned copy and some consulates verify the details.

I am not sure. From what I have read on the forums, people email them a copy of the petition and the appointment letter. The address can be found on their website or from Nvars.
