change status from H1B to F1

I am in h1b visa now and am tired of my job. I want to switch to different field but guess I cant do that??? so HELPLESS!!!BTW when I am in H1B can I take a year break (but still stay here in US????) ..OR i am even thinking of going back to school with different major....become a full time student (can i change my status from h1 to F1)??? Is it possible??? or there is other option..better ways to stay in status??? I have bachelor degree and i heard i cant do Bachelors again but have to go for higher degrees like masters??? SOOO CONFUSED...WHAT TO DO???? ANY SUGGESTION!!!!

Switching to different field is tricky in that the new job has to qualify for a "specialty occupation" and you should also have the required training/education/experience in the specialty occupation.

I am not sure what you mean by taking a break on H1. For you to remain in status, you must be employed by the employer who you an approved H1 with. You cannot quit your job and just hang around on H1 status.

You can certainly go back to school and apply for a COS to f1. You can go for a Master's or Bachelor's of your choice.

I heard from my friend that people do take a break for several months for medical issues or family issues WITHOUT quitting their job (means still in h1 status..right??)... and comes back to work.... right now my job is so overwhelming that i just need a break and take some time off....(what's the longest period you can take your time off..if its possible)..i dont want to quit now and regret later !!!...HOW CAN I do that?? thank you!!!THANKS
