Sponsor can choose not to bring you here and revoke the H1b. That does not restrict your ability to come here on H1b by transferring the H1b to another employer of your choice.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

Well, they can rescind the offer and inform USCIS that you are not going to come. Your H1-B petition will be revoked unless you "transfer" (actually getting a new one approved) through some other employer. If it is revoked before you get another h1-b petition approved you need to get through the cap again. Other than that no harm done.

Totally wrong! A H1b revoked by the employer once approved does not require a person to go through the cap again. The transfer need not happen immediately for one to retain the cap number. Don't misguide people.
