The new H1 approval notice will have a new I94 attached. Check the valid through date on this new I94. This will be your new status valid period.
If you are going to stamp the H1 visa in your passport, it will depend on your citizenship and your country treaty with US. For most of countries the visa will follow your I94 date, but not all countries. Ask your lawyer to find out.
