H1B Stamping with Renewed passport

Hello gurus,

I have got my H1B approval for year 2009.
The problem that I am facing now is, my passport's lamination is little torn and the passport issue date has faded out because it was stamped.
I am advised to get a new passport for the above reason.
Now, just want to know, being my approval containing the old passport number what should I mention in my stamping application? the new or the old passport number?

Please help if what should I do in this case.

Passport number is not at all an issue. You should give the new passport number for the visa.
