H4 Visa-Spouse name in passport.

Dear Friends,
I'm presently in US on H1B visa. Will be back in India for my wedding on Sep 10th. I am planning to return to US for work on Sep 20th with my spouse. Planning to take an appointment for H4 visa interview on Sep 15th.

1. Is it mandatory to update the passport (both of us) for spouse name before going for visa interview? or Is Marriage certificate good enough?
2. Can I make an appointment with consulate for visa interview before wedding?
