Is it a must that the candidate be currently working?

I have over 8 years of exp. I quit my regular job in may 2008 to start my own business. For the last 4 months, i don't have any employment proof. Is it a must that i should be employed at the time of attending the H1 interview? Will there be any specific questions? I have my interview this week. Inputs are highly appreciated.
