  • Need help - Layoff - Time limit on H1B

    Hello,

I was laid off on 8/29 and has been given the salary check till 8/25. What should I do for this issues?

Another thing, please advice how long I can stay back in the usa for searching a job?

I heard that I can go for Change of Status to B1/B2 and buy some more time, but I am wondering if I do that, would I be able to chnage the status back to H1B, or I need to apply a fresh H1B with the new employer during the H1B quota period in Apr 2009?

Do you suggest any other thing I can do at this point?

Please advice. I really appreciate your time. Thanks a lot!

Find a company that is ready to transfer your visa iimediately and send the application asap. There is no grace period. You have been out of status since you lost your job. The more you delay, the more is the risk of H1 transfer resulting in RFE for recent paystubs. You are at advantage currently having uptodate paystubs.
