h4 to f1 conversion and GC

Hi,

My wife is doing MS on H4 visa. I'm thinking of getting it converted to F1 from H4. I'll be adding her to my GC process when my priority date becomes current. I was told that F1 visa holders should have a non immigrant intent and might cause a problem in filing her GC. Does that mean I shouldn't convert her from H4 to F1?
