  • AAP - Passport taken by Visa officer at the time of interview

I have attended the H1visa interview on 26th August 2008 at New Delhi office. I have been interviewed for 2 minutes by the VO. He later told that they need to notify somethings regarding my case. He didn't handover anything to me at this point. All the documents attached were taken by them and even the passport also. I later come to know after 1 week that my visa is put under AAP(Administrative processing).

    My Question here is
    1. If a person is given AAP, is the passport also taken by them along with all
    the documents?
    2. Had anyone experienced this AAP process (passport being taken) earlier?
If yes, Can you please share this with me?
    3. How long will it take to have my visa stamped?

It is a good sign if they kept the passport. If the delay is going to be long, they do not keep the passport.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
