H1B Vacation and transfer

I am working with companyA and would be transferring my H1B to company B after which I want to leave for India towards end of October 2008

The current stamp on my H1B is valid till July 2009; the stamp is from CompanyA

Now I want to goto India for couple of months, which is fine with CompanyB

- Whats the max time that I can goto India without having impact ?

- Ideally I am planning to comeback in April2009, do I need to go for stamping ?

- I am resigning from Company A so they would cancel my visa. I would have it transferred to CompanyB through premium processing, but wouldnot have any paystubs from CompanyB...would this be ok?

You can come back with the existing stamp and a latest offer letter from B. What company A does to the petition is immaterial.

Would going for 6 months be ok , though? Coupled with the fact that I wouldnot be having paystubs from CompanyB
