  • What if I continue with L1 employer after getting H1 approval?

I am currently working on L1A in NY and have got H1B approved for the current year. I am yet to get the H1B Visa stamped on my passport. My I-797 and all H1b related documents are with my consultant who processed my H1B & change of status.

    My Question is:
If I continue with my current employer (L1) for next 2 months and then start work with H1 employer for 2 months and then go for stamping,
will it cause any problem for me? If yes, what could be the problem?

With a COS to H1b, it is illegal to work for the L1 employer and that is the problem.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

If you were to have begun work on H1B on Oct 1, you already have 6 weeks of illegal work. Continuing to work on L1A will further compound the problem. Talk to a lawyer!!!
