  • B1 validity while going for L1B visa interview

    Hi Friends,

I have valid B1 visa with multiple entry for 10 years and I had been to US few times in last couple years for smaller durations. Now my new company applied for L1B visa and I need to go consulate soon with I-129S and other documents for visa interview. Now if L1B is granted then whther B1 will be cancelled by them or if L1B is rejected then B1 still remains approved ? Anybody has similar experience or heard any update on the same ?

Moreover it's travel ready i.e. I may have wait for couple of months for suitable assignments even if L1B blanket granted at consulate. So I'm really worried about loosing a valid B1 multiple status or in worst case L1B rejected then also B1 still remains valid ?

Looking for urgent response as my visa interview is within next few days.

    Thanks

You are allowed to have L1 and B visas at the same time on the passport.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

Also depends on the VO, some ppl cancel prior visas some don't.

Btw you do not have B1 status, you only have a B1 visa. Status is for people who are already in the US.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
