can i go back to my Previuos company

Hi..
i have my first valid H1B visa and valid I94 with company A from sep 2006 to sep 2009

in July 2008 i transferred to company B and i got my I 797 approval with out I94 attached ( H1b approved from 07/2008 to 12/2011)
and at the bottom POE is mentioned as Chennai.

now i don’t have any plans to work with company B so i don’t want to go Chennai and appear for visa. So I want to go back to company A . if i go back to company A ,
is my visa become out of status ?
can i legally work with company A ? Because i have my first valid H1B and valid i 94 till sept 2009. and i already enquired with company A they didn’t revoke my visa till now.

Please give me suggestion

You could go back and work for A. A might be required to pay you for the period that you were on their H1b to meet DOL regulations.
