Strange case with H1B Visa Pink slip in Chennai

Hi Guys,

I have attended H1B visa interview in chennai on 24th of December 2008
The interview was simple , the VO asked me only 4 questions

1. Whats my designation with my new US employer
2. How long are you with ur current organisation
3. explain the abt the project
4. Asked abt the contact person in US

I answered all of them!!

Then he asked me to give my left hand's middle finger print
and kept my Passport and DS forms with him,
and wished me happy trip to US , and handed over a pink slip
to me and said that he cannot issue a visa becoz of Administrative
processing.

The Strange thing is ppl whoever have got pink slip, there passport was also returned at the same moment.

Please let me know is anybody in the same boat?
who has got the pink slip , but the VO officer has kept with him passport

Can you please tell me

1.If a person has common name , then do VO keep passport with them ?
2.Is this a common scenario, where a applicant got pink slip but the passport was kept with the VO?
3. How much time it may take for getting my passport stamped?

They keeping the passport is a good sign as they do it only if the feel the result will be quick. Guesstimate of 2- 4 weeks. If not, they will return the PP.

Life cycle of the statuses for pink slip applicants ?

I understand that applicants with pink slip has to undergo through life cycle of the following status .Does anybody knows whats the proper sequence of statuses that is followed .. for the pink slip 221g.

I see the report that there are four status

1. respond to questionare
2. Send Passport
3. Pending Process
4. Issued

Can somebody put the above status in the proper order

Please let me know if its difficult to understand my questions

I got similar slip on Dec 2 2008. I answered the questionnaire and emailed them on the same day. But, still my case is "Pending Processing". Did you email them your answers?

221g pink case

I got 221g pink handout at the New Delhi consulate and I have submitted my questionnaire that was given to me on Dec19th via email. I got the return email saying that the documents were submitted but my case number is still not on the online case status report. They kept my passport. The officer made it sound like this was routine as in the adminst. processing but why can't I find my case number? Does this mean they haven't opened it, haven't received it or they think I haven't provided all the documents? Of course, I got no response to my emails. I attached the questionnaire as a word document. Is that the problem?
Please let me know.

If you dont find your case number on the case status report
how did you know that you were supposed to send the questionare.
I mean we get information about the documents to be submitted
through the "Status report" right ?

No, in my case my interviewer handed me the questionnaire at my interview and said I should email it to them. The email was on the questionnaire.
My case number is still not on the list but I did finally hear from the embassy telling me my case was pending. I called the embassy too and after a lot of trying I finally talked to a person who told me they made a mistake and would put my case number online. I checked today -still nothing. Hopefully in goes online soon. Atleast now I know they did receive my papers.

for ppl who have given interview in chennai ... the status report is updated every tuesday .. if its same with delhi then you have to wait till next week to see you status online

Please let me know have you submitted your passport with the questionaire ... or was it taken along with other documents in the stamping interview

Don't worry you will get your visa

I gave my interview at kolkata consulate and was issued an orange/pink form asking to submit some more documents from my employer. I submitted them after 2 days and they kept my passport and said my case is under admin processing. nearly one month later they called me and said that my visa has been issued.

So do not worry, just be patient, do not call them, if all your documents are in place then you will get your visa quickly. Since they have kept your passport, they must be inclined to give you the visa, only there must be some security checks which they are doing.

If they wouldn't want to give you visa, then they would not have kept your passport.

Pink Slip 221G at Chennai

Hi - I had appeared for my visa interview on May 14th 2012 at Chennai. Visa officer asked me questions on my designation, location and few basic questions. Then said that my documents look good, but they may need some additional info to issue visa.

I was given a pink slip 221 G. My status is 'Pending Process'. Any idea why this would have happened? How long will it take for my visa to come thru? I have to get back to the US at the earliest, but am stuck. Anybody faced a similar situation? Please help...

There are 1000's of similar post. No one can predict what additional admin processing they are going to do on your application. If you work as a consultant, then this is pretty common. No one can predict the time that will take to get the 221g resolved as they are case by case basis. Search and read the posts on 221g / admin processing.
