H1 Transfer - India Visit

I have read this somewhere "If you travel outside US, and your H1 visa stamp (even if from previous employer) is still not expired and valid, you can use that H1 visa stamp along with H1 petition from new employer to travel back into US"

I am running with exact same case.
My questions are
1) Current status for H1b is showing "Pending" , what will happen if it gets approved while I am in India ?

2) Should I have to carry anything else (like last pay stubs, Offer letter) along with Visa Stamp (with old employer) and H1 petition with new employer ?

Never a good idea to travel on a pending H1b transfer petition.

Read "cloning" posts if you don't have a choice but travel for an emergency.
