Need urgent help reg. Travel back to India

Hi,
I am returning to India with my Family by end of Jan.
I have a situation now.
1) I had applied for my H1B extn and have received the extended petition.
2) But my wife's H4 extn has been approved. but we have not recd the docs yet.
3) We have a 4 month baby with US passport + PIO card.


Now my queries are
1) Do I need Transit visa to travel thru European Airports
2) Will there be any problem for my wife as she does not have valid visa stamping and also the extension papers have not reached us.
3) Will I be able to get transit Visa for my wife with the H4 Extn filed Notice of Receipt and the Approved Status info from USCIS web site
4) Which is the best route to travel to India (Chennai)

1. Most likely. Depends on which country.
2. Better carry extension paper for stamping to prove continuous status.
3. Depends on the country you are applying for and their policies.
4. From were? Pacific route does not need any transit visa for sure.
