    Hi...need some help here..Got laid off..last day of work:feb 15,
1)What visa do I apply for so I don't go out of status?
    2)Is applying for a B2 a good option or B1?
3)How much time does it typically take for the new status to take effect?
4)If I have to apply for H1B again after changing the status to B1 or B2, will I have to go thru the cap?
    Please advise...

    Hi...need some help here..Got laid off..last day of work:feb 15,
1)What visa do I apply for so I don't go out of status?

---- Either B1/B2 or H4 if you have yours pouse working on H1

    2)Is applying for a B2 a good option or B1?

---- Both are same. One is visiting for business and theother is for pleasure. Either way the vis is stamped as B1/B2. If you apply for COS from h1 to B1 you get a petition with I-94

3)How much time does it typically take for the new status to take effect?

---- It may take 2-4 weeks

4)If I have to apply for H1B again after changing the status to B1 or B2, will I have to go thru the cap?

---- No. The remaining period of your H1 can be captured

Is H1 B thru a consultant a better option for a person in Non IT field than B1/B2?
Where & how does one apply for B1/B2?
Do I need to personally attend an interview or can I send my passport to the nearest consulate?
      What is the cost?
      What is Acceptance rate?
Duration-how long can one stay in the country on B1/B2?

      Thanks for your answers...
