  • H1-B transfer while layoff

My last paycheck is for period ending 01-16-09 and my layoff letter is dated on 01-20-09 with 1 week notice from 01-20-09.

How long do I have to transfer my H1-B. I have requested my ex-employer to not inform the USCIS until I transfer the H1-B. Do I have a grace period until my ex-employer informs or at least couple of weeks before I transfer my H1-B?

Please need an answer from expert.

---- You have to transfer your H1 at once. If you are unable to find a sponsor, file for B1/B2 in the meanwhile to stay in the US on a legal status. Once again be quick in either case
