H1 renewed for 3 months!

My friend's H1 was renewed for 3 months! The client (a MNC) renews the contract every quarter, but USCIS just looked at the last date of PO, and renewed the H1.

Is he supposed to get his H1 renewed every 3 months? Please advice

When you show you will have a job of longer duration, you will get H1 till that date.
