I live in the US on a H1 visa and my H1B expires sep30, 2009. My 797 has been extended till april 30, 2011. I will be visiting India in May and was wondering if I can get my visa updated all the way till april 30, 2011 in the month of may 2009.
I know that i can travel back to US without doing that since I will have a valid visa when i return (I will go back on june 4th), and i can get my I-94 extended till april 2011, but i thought since i am visiting this time, i will get the visa also updated at the US consulate.
Sometimes they say that u can only appear for visa renewal only if your visa is scheduled to expire within 60 days, is that true or can i get it stamped as early as may 27, 2009.
Please advise.
