  • H1 to H4 --> SSN Concern

    Hi,

    Right now I am on H1 and planning to move out of US and come back on H4. My question is once my status changes to H4 will my Social Secuirty be incativated automatically or do I need to get it inactivated. What will be the state of my Credit cards and Bank Accounts.

    Pl. respond.

    Thanks

    SSN remains as is for the life term. There is neither a need or a possibility to deactivate anything due to change in status. Rest is business as usual with SSN except that you will not be working.

    I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

      I got COS to H4 so can I use the SSN to file the tax returns for 2009 or I will have to get a Tax ID from IRS.

      Thanks,
      Ankita
