Choosing F1 instead of H1

Hi,

I have applied for H1 this year through a consultant and now I'm thinking of applying for F-1 as i'm already in F-1 i have my opt time valid till next year and i can join some university in next Jan.

Is there an option to not take up the H-1 after it is granted so I can stay in my OPT and in F-1.

If H1 was applied as COS, you need to travel out of US before October 1 and enter the US on F1 visa after October 1. This will void the COS. But I am not sure if you will still have OPT. In general, OPT ends when H1 is approved.
