H1 to H4

Hi,
I was on H4, got H1 last year, visa stamped in dec 2008, now applying for status change to H4. I heared status change takes few months to complete. My husbands H1 renewal is due in sep, so he applied his h1b extension alone; Suppose my status change takes boyond september, will they consider my husbad's h1b extension and renew my staus accordingly; or there is something i need to do before September?
