Re-entering US with expired visa but approved extension petition

Last year I got a H1b transfer done from India and I entered US with the old visa(stamped with original company's name) but the new H1b transfer approval which is valid until Oct 2010.

Now I am visiting India for a few weeks and was planning to get H1b stamping with all my latest paystubs,W2, company profile etc. However since rejection rate for all work related visas are high I am skeptical about going for stamping?

Can I re-enter US with a H1b via that has already expired(Sept 2008) but an H1 approval notice valid until Oct 2010?

NO. Do NOT attempt that. A stamped visa in the passport is needed to apply for entry at the PoE.

Thanks Orion. I entered last year this way, but my visa was valid then. As you suggested its better I dont do it again now that my visa has expired

It is not about better or worse, you will not be able to enter without valid visa.
