can I win contest on H-4 visa

I'm on H-4 visa and I partcipated in an online contest for instant prize but I won the first prize worth $3000.The Sponsor will send me the Tax form before the prize.my question is ..Is it legal to participate and win on H-4 visa?

-- as per my understanding under $1000 online earning is allowed on H4 visa without filling any TAX form, over the $>1000 must have to fill TAX form (thats not possible on H4 and it's illegal).
one more thing you are not allowed to earn this kind of online earning every month or always, it's fine if you earn online two or three times in a year (should not >1000$).
