US visa expired but I-94 not,drive to Canada and come back TO US?

My current Visa has expired,and I'm in US now.
What's more,my US visa is 1 time entry.
But my I-94's deadline is 2011-June,Could I apply for Canada Visa and drive to Canada , 3days later come back to US under current I-94?will the officer allow me in US ?

After 9/11, you need a visa to enter and just a valid I-94 will not be able to get you through.
