H1B out of status?

Hi,

I was working with a firm, who sponsored my H1B. My employment has been terminated recently, and I have a notice period till July 24th. I have a salary continuation period till Aug 28th. I am not sure when would I be considered out of status? is it after the notice period? I have heard that you get 30-60 days even after notice period ends, to find new job/H1B sponsor. I am also following up with my firm when would they sned out the notification to INS.
Any suggestions highly appreciated...
