  • H1B, quitting job, best way to stay back for a month?

I am on my 5th year of my H1B. Will be resigning next week. How much time do I have from that day to leave the country? Does it take time for the employer to notify government? Is there a status change I can apply for to be here temporarily? I have an indian passport.

    Any help in appreciated.

---- The day you resign or are terminated you are out of status and there is no grace period. The only way to continue staying in the US is to apply for a B1/B2 visa before that time

---- Notification by the employer to the USCIS is only a formality and it may take to get it registereed with USCIS, as they have their own priorities and ways of making note of these matters
