Question about "Name" on Passport for H4

Hi Guys

I badly need help on this one. I want to change the name (completely new name) of my spouse after marriage. Lets assume, currently her name is "XYZ" and I/She want to change it to "ABC". I have confirmed with my lawyer that the marriage certificate will show both the "old name" and the "new name" given to my spouse. Do I need the "new name" to be updated in her current passport. Can she approach for an H4 interview without changing anything on her passport (or) is it mandatory to change her "old name" to "new" in the passport before appearing for an Interview.

I shall be very greatfull for any help.

If name is "completely changed", you have to update in passport also. And for that you need to do it through court affidavit with your name change published in major newspapers.

If only surname (last name) changes after marriage, not needed change in passport. But Visa is still issued with name in the passport.

To changes last name in her passport, you need to update it in passport with supporting documents (marriage certificate). (Miscellaneous Services)
