H1B Extension

Hi,

My H1B visa and I94 will be expiring by September. I have applied for H1B extension. I have got the receipt number but not the approval yet.

My questions are
-Is it legal to stay in US after the expiry of my visa & I94 when my extension is in processing?
-If it is legal, how soon I should move out of US if my visa gets rejected and I get the notice only after the expiration of my current visa?

I appreciate your help on this.

1. Yes
2. Immediately if the I-94 is expired.
