Transfer from H4 to H1

Hi,
I have applied for h1-B, when i was in Inida. After applying for H1-B, I got married and came to US on H4 visa. Once after i came here, my H1-B petetion is approved and got I797.So, should i go back to India and get it stamped before i work here.?

Please provide me the info how to proceed abot this.?

Your employer can file an amendment to COS to H1b or you can get a stamp.
