can i go to india while my H1-B extension is in process

My H1-B got expired and i applied for H1-B extension and i am waiting on the approval meantime i want to travel to india and want to comeback after approval can i do that. could anyone help me

Not recommended, but you can. However, to re-enter you'll need the approval with you if your visa is unexpired. If visa is expired, you'll need the approval notice to get the visa stamped before re-entering.
