Urgent Info needed: H1B Transfer from Company A to company B/C after quitting A

Hi

I've an H1B from company A, the stamping of which has expired. However, the extension documents are with me and valid for a long time from now.

In the meanwhile, Company A moved me out of US to my home country. I was laid off from company A around 6-7 months back and I'm about to join company B now.

I've few queries now:
Is my H1B Visa still valid?
Wouldn't have company A cancelled my H1B?
How to find the current status of my visa?
If my visa is active yet(as my approved extension petition documents are with me), can I now try transferring it to either company B or company C and use it?

Please help me with the above questions.

Yes, if it remains unexpired.

That would be the petition that they cancel, not the visa.
