Employer pushing to get to US asap

Hello,
I have got the H1 petition approved this year. Due to some personal issues I want to defer my travel till next year Jul/Aug but my employer pushing to get to US ASAP. He is not agreeing to my personal issues and saying that he will otherwise involve the HR and Legal dept. So my question is:
1. How much authority Legal dept has in this issue?
2. Isn't it my wish when I want to travel there? (I have anyway contributed a majority fund stake in my application)
3. Why does he want to get me there asap? Is that a problem for him if I stay here with a approved petition?
4. Should I at least get the visa stamped and travel later...What can be the issues like validity of visa/petition or what else?

4. If employer doesn't cancel H1, and still has a job for you, you can get visa anytime, and travel anytime.

No idea. Unless you go there, he cannot place you in a project that will earn him $$$.

Is that a problem for him if I stay here with a approved petition?
No legal issues. Maybe financially.
