H1-B Transfer without paystubs?

Hi,
One of my friend is on H1-B with company A and is out of job for almost 6 months and recently he got a job offer with company B.Since he doesn't have recent paystubs and company B wants copies of last three months of paystubs, As he had the paystubs from last year , he changed dates from last year to recent dates on the paychecks.Is there a way USCIS or company B can find out about this and in that case what could be the consequences?

It is clearly committing fraud. Such fraud is felony and could end up behind bars when discovered.
