H1B to F-1
Hi,
I am a H1B holder and about to be laid off on 31st of december. Altough I am enrolled in local university for master program, currently the university is closed until sometime january 4th, which means I cannot get I 20 from them.
Fortunately, my company are willing to extend my employment for a bit, but not a lot, so here is my question:
- how long does it take for the filling from h1b to f1? ( just enough for my company to let me go, but I am still legally in status)
- is the changing from h1b to f1 something i can do by myself? albeit can be done by common folks (with out lawyer's help)
- if at 4th of january, I have the option to change my H1B status from full time to part time instead (temporary too, to buy more time), will this be a more advisable path? (note the lawyer fees I need to face)
Please advise me on what I need to do, currently, my objective is just completing my master degree, which will require F1 visa
